Our pharmacist can help you with minor health issues that require timely treatment. Generally, these minor health issues are conditions that are less serious, but are quite common and bothersome.
Most often these conditions can be treated on your own with the support of a pharmacist and may not require a visit to a doctor for treatment. For some minor health issues, your pharmacist can assess your symptoms and, if needed, prescribe a prescription treatment if there are no suitable over-the-counter options for you.
As of January 1, 2023, your pharmacist can help determine the right treatment for you if you have the following minor health issues:
- Allergic rhinitis
- Candidal stomatitis (oral thrush)
- Conjunctivitis (bacterial, allergic and viral)
- Dermatitis (atopic, eczema, allergic and contact)
- Dysmenorrhea
- Gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
- Hemorrhoids
- Herpes labialis (cold sores)
- Impetigo
- Insect bites and urticaria (hives)
- Tick bites, post-exposure prophylaxis to prevent Lyme disease
- Musculoskeletal sprains and strains

Pharmacist
The MedsCheck at Home medication review program is for those patients who are not able to physically attend the community pharmacy in person for a MedsCheck due to their physical and/or mental health condition.
As your pharmacist, we are taking the MedsCheck and reaching out to those patients that we rarely see due to their mobility issues.
During the home visit, we will conduct a medicine cabinet review and remove unused drugs for proper disposal at the pharmacy.
If the need arises, you may also be eligible for one or more follow-up appointments throughout the year.
If you are eligible for the MedsCheck program but are not able to leave your home to visit your community pharmacy, talk to us about the Medication Review at Home program.

Proper dosing is an integral part of maintaining good health.
Many people, especially the elderly or those with multiple health conditions, must take a number of medications each day.
In order to achieve the greatest benefit from what has been prescribed, these medications must be taken in the correct dose and at the correct times each day.
Compliance/Blister Packs can have several pockets per day so that you can keep track of your medications.
Compounding pharmacies are types of pharmacies that prepare special medications by mixing (or compounding) raw ingredients.
In the 1920's and 30's a majority of the medications were made by pharmacists for a specific patient. Today though, compounded prescriptions only represent about 1% of all prescription drugs.

This includes being able to engage in normal activities, keeping the use of rescue medications down (less than 4 doses per week), having daytime symptoms less than 4 days per week, and reducing episodes of worsening asthma.
